Cold is No Match For Red Hot Gators. Win 17-3 vs. Bryn Athyn

Box Score BALTIMORE, MD – It may have been bitter cold and very windy for April, but the Notre Dame Gators lacrosse team remained red hot, improving to 2-0 with a 17-3 win over the Lions of Bryn Athyn. Crisp passing inside the fan to set up goal scoring chances, and relentless defense on the other end was the story of this one.

Mid-way through the first half it was a closely contested matchup. Goals looked like they would be tough to come by as Notre Dame led 3-2. The Gators would go on to score 14 of the next 15 goals in the game, leading 8-2 by halftime, and outscoring the Lions 9-1 in the second half.

The scoring was spread around as four different Gators recorded hat tricks. Katie Hawkins, Hannah Mullaney, and Vanessa Dunn, while Junior,Kelsey Campbell, led the day with four goals and four assists on the day. Campbell has posted back to back eight point performances and is tied with Sara Morales for the team lead in goals with nine. Morales found the back of the net twice in this contest, after a seven goal outing in the season opener. Freshman, Averee Radonovich, captured her first career point, logging an assist.

The senior in goal,Marie Salas, continued to turn away would be goals at a high rate, stopping nine of 12 shots on target. Her save percentage sits at 77.3% after allowing just two goals in last week's win over Keystone. Impressive, considering Bryn Athyn posted 16 goals this past Sunday against Centenary, with Payton Gormley leading the way with eight goals. Gormley, reigning CSAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, was held scoreless on the day while posting an assist.

The Gators 2-0 start has them in sole possession of first place in the CSAC standings. They have outscored opponents 36-5 thus far. NDMU will take their show on the road to Wilson College for a matchup on Wednesday, April 7th at 4:00pm. Wilson is 0-2 in non-conference matchups, and begin conference play against Centenary tomorrow, April 3rd.
