Softball Sets 2023 Schedule

BALTIMORE- Building upon last season's success, the Notre Dame of Maryland softball team will be looking to take the next step in 2023, with the team announcing their spring schedule. The 38-game slate has the Gators matching up against a wide array of teams. NDMU will host 10 home doubleheaders including four conference matchups.

The Gators will hit the road on the opening weekend of the season, traveling to face Washington College (March 4) and Gallaudet University (March 5) in doubleheaders. NDMU has never faced the Shorewomen in softball, but will be more familiar with the Bison. Last season NDMU swept Gallaudet in their twinbill, improving to 5-7-1 all-time against the Bison. The Gators will travel to face Stevenson University (March 8) for the first time in program history.

NDMU hosts Sarah Lawrence College in four game series (March 13 & 14) to open play at CCBC Dundalk. For the third time in the season, the Gators will face a brand-new opponent, having never played the Gryphons.

The team will then host John Jay College (March 18) and Baruch College (March 19). The Gators split a doubleheader last season with Bloodhounds and will face the Bearcats for the first time since 2017.

NDMU will head to Front Royal, Va. to take on Christendom College (March 23) in the first of two scheduled doubleheaders. The Crusaders will make a return trip to Baltimore on April 25. The Gators will host Lehman College (March 25) in one final doubleheader before turning their attention to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

NDMU opens conference play by hosting the University of Valley Forge (April 5), a team they swept last season. The Gators then hit the road for doubleheaders against Cairn University (April 8) and Rosemont College (April 13). NDMU split twinbills with each opponent last season. The Gators return home to face Clarks Summit University (April 15) before pausing conference play to take on Albright College (April 17) in a road nonconference matchup.

A pair of home CSAC doubleheaders await the Gators, with NDMU hosting Saint Elizabeth University (April 19) and Cedar Crest College (April 22). The Gators finish the season with road trips to Keystone College (April 27) and Wilson College (April 29). The Phoenix are the defending CSAC Champions.

The Gators went 10-14 last season, going 7-9 in CSAC play. NDMU will be led by long-time assistant coach and alumna Samantha Kastner in her first season at the helm. The Gators return all-conference second team players Jessie Leatherwood and Bethani Newbold in addition to all-conference honorable mention player Ciarra Bockstie
