LATHAM, N.Y.- The United East announced its 2023 men's soccer major award winners and all-conference teams on Wednesday, Nov. 8 with the Gators earning five conference honors. NDMU's head men's soccer coach Frank Olszewski was named Co-Coach of the Year. Hector Alvarez, Tassilo Lehmkuhl and Victor Jaunay collected Second Team All-Conference honors while Adrian Andersen was named Third Team All-Conference.
Olszewski was named Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Gators in a historic first season. The team showed improvement throughout the season as Olszewski mixed international players with local talent. As a team the Gators made history at every turn, earning five victories, including three in conference play. NDMU was one of the toughest teams to score on this season, allowing 22 goals, the third fewest in the conference this fall. The Gators earned a playoff berth as the #6 seed in their first season of competition.
Alvarez flashed his explosiveness throughout NDMU's inaugural season, scoring six goals and dishing out five assists. He finished tied for the seventh most assists in the conference this season. Alvarez put his skills on full display in NDMU's win over Gallaudet University, where he scored four goals and recorded three assists as NDMU notched its first win in program history.
Lehmkuhl was a constant threat to score from any distance once the ball was at his feet. He finished the season with seven goals and two assists. Lehmkuhl proved to be clutch throughout his freshman campaign, scoring three game-winning goals, the second most in the conference this season. Lehmkuhl put on one of his performances of the season in NDMU's comeback win over Wilson College, scoring twice to rally the Gators to a key conference victory.
Jaunay battled through injury throughout his first season with the Gators, consistently showing improvement. Jaunay recorded 32 saves with a goals against average of 1.90 during his eight appearances this fall. He shined in conference play, earning three conference victories including a shutout victory over the University of Valley Forge.
Andersen showed a ton of potential during NDMU's first season. He recorded four goals and three assists this fall. Andersen made a major impact during NDMU's win over Clarks Summit University, scoring a highlight worthy goal and adding an assist in the Gators first ever conference road victory.
