BALTIMORE, MD - Centenary College was not scared off by the ghosts of Alumnae Field Saturday afternoon as the visitors treated themselves to a 6-0 Halloween victory over College of Notre Dame in a Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer match up. The game today was both teams last CSAC battle of the season. The Gators dropped to 3-14-1 overall and finish the year with a 2-8 CSAC mark while the Cyclones improved to 13-3-1 and 7-2-1, respectively. The win propelled Centenary to the third seed in the CSAC postseason tournament. A loss or tie would have put Centenary as the fifth seed in the tournament.
Bianca Santulli booted a ball from 18 yards out to put Centenary on the board in the 12th minute. Sam Vanni added a second goal just 4:58 later to make the score 2-0.
The contest stood at 2-0 untul the second half when Arielle Hamilton scored :23 into the period off an assist from Kiti Ovaskainen. Ovaskainen then scored a goal in the 54th minute to push the score to 4-0. After an own goal in the 68th minute, Jazmine Farrell capped off the scoring in the 71st minute.
The Cyclones controlled the game from the opening whistle, out shooting the Gators by a 24-4 margin. Centenary had ten corner kicks to Notre Dame's three.
The Gators recognized seniors Lauren Terry (Perry Hall, MD/Catholic) and Amanda McKenney (Chase, MD/Kenwood) before the game as they played in their final home game of their careers. McKenney started the game in goal for Notre Dame and made seven stops in the losing effort.
Notre Dame will finish the season on Sunday with a 1 p.m. game at non-conference opponent Bryn Mawr.
