Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame of Maryland Swimming brings home seven first place finishes in a 56-38 loss to Marywood University.
Melanie Moscoso-Meiller recorded first place finishes in all three of her events on the afternoon. The junior's touched the wall first in the 200yd freestyle in a time of 2:16.59, for the Gators first win of the afternoon. Moscoso-Meiller's 1:02.28 was good enough to edge out the Pacers Alyssa Desiderio in the 100 yd freestyle. The 100 yd breaststroke found Moscoso-Meiller taking the early lead and securing a victory with a time of 1:24.72.
Sophomores Faith Jones and Shannon Berry finished in the top three in each of their events. Jones raced to a first place finish in the 160yd Individual Medley with a time of 1:56.75. The very next event, 100yd butterfly, the sophomore finished ten seconds ahead of her closest competitor, touching the wall in 1:05.72. Jones swam the 500yd freestyle for the first time this season, finishing third with a 6:15.59.
Jones’ classmate Shannon Berry sprinted to a victory with a time of 22.25 in the 40yd freestyle. Just past the mid-point of the meet the sophomore touched the wall first in the 100yd backstroke in a fast 1:07.91. Berry earned third place points for the Gators in the 1,000yd freestyle, racing to the finish with a time of 12:29.94.
Freshman Amber Lovejoy placed third in her opening event, the 200yd freestyle with a time of 2:38.16.
The Gators travel to Randolph Macon College November 19th and 20th for the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
