School Record Broken In First Day Of ODAC Championships

DAY 1 FINAL RESULTS
Greensboro, N.C. - The Notre Dame of Maryland University swim team competed in their first day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Gators posted several personal best Friday while senior Emily Jordan (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) broke a school record in the 200 fly.

In the first event of the day, the 200 freestyle relay, the team of sophomore Lindsey Webb (Hollywood, Md. / Leonardtown), junior Julianna Randazzo (Glen Burnie, Md.), freshman Summer Stevens (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista), and freshman Molly Wolanski (Athens, Pa.) each swam personal bests and posted a season best by 4.3 seconds in 2:23.75. In the finals, the team finished in 9th place.

In the 500 freestyle, junior Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.) finished 21st in 6:30.76. Webb finished with a personal best by 4.94 seconds in 7:02.19 and Wolanski finished with a personal best by 33 seconds in 7:59.54.

In the 200 individual medley, Randazzo cut three seconds on her time, for a season best in 3:11.52.

In the 50 freestyle, Stevens posted a personal best by 3.3 seconds, coming in at 37.55.

In the 400 medley relay, the team of Pedersen, Webb, Jordan, and Randazzo swam a season best in 5:16.54, beating their previous time by 40 seconds. In the finals, the team finished 9th, dropping another eight seconds off their time with 5:08.97.

Senior Emily Jordan set a new school record in the 200 fly in a time of 2:22.47. The record was previously held by Miyuki Washino in 1997 in a time of 2:24.21.

The Gators continue the ODAC championships tomorrow as they will compete in the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 fly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke. The meet can be viewed via live stream and meet results can be found here.
