Day Two of ODAC Championships Sees Another Broken Record

DAY 2 FINALS RESULTS
Greensboro, N.C. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University swim team competed in day two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships where several swimmers posted season and personal best while, for the second day in a row, senior Emily Jordan (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) broke a Notre Dame school record.

To open up the day, the team of junior Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.), sophomore Lindsey Webb (Hollywood, Md. / Leonardtown), Jordan, and freshman Summer Stevens (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista) recorded a season best by six seconds in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:23.29.

In the preliminaries of the 400-yard individual medley, Jordan placed eighth in a season best, 5:00.49 and qualified for finals later Saturday night.  In the finals, Jordan broke another school record, claiming seventh place in 4:55.66.  Jordan broke her own record in the 400 IM, previous set in 2013 with a time of 5:00.02.  She also holds the Notre Dame Pool Record for the 400 IM with a time of 4:57.13.

In the third event, the 100-yard butterfly, Julianna Randazzo (Glen Burnie, Md.) swam a season best in 1:33.93 and finished in 19th place.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Notre Dame had four swimmer post season best, led by Pedersen who finished 24th in a time of 2:26.95.  Webb swam a personal best by 1.1 seconds in a time of 2:43.22, finishing 28th.  Freshman Molly Wolanski (Athens, Pa.) swam a personal best by 16 seconds in the 200 free, finishing in 2:54.41.  Stevens posted the largest margin personal best of the day of over one minute, completing the race in 3:03.59.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Jordan posted a season best in 1:14.20, finishing in 14th place and qualified for the finals.  In the finals, Jordan finished 14th, swimming a season best, 1:13.26. 

To conclude day two, Notre Dame competed in the 800-yard freestyle relay.  The team of Jordan, Pedersen, Wolanski, and Randazzo posted a season best by 45 seconds in a time of 10.17.12.

For the final day of championships Sunday, Notre Dame will compete in the following events:

Randazzo          200-yard butterfly
                        400-yard freestyle relay
Pedersen          1650-yard freestyle
