Front Royal, VA – Christendom College upsets College of Notre Dame of Maryland Basketball Wednesday evening 61-55 in a non-conference match-up.
Forward India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) paced the Gators with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 steals. Guard Cory Santos (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad) contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) added 10 rebounds. Catherine Subrizi (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) finished with nine points.
The Gators and Crusaders were in a tight game from the opening whistle, with neither team building a significant advantage. College of Notre Dame found themselves with numerous trips to the foul line, were they went 14-for-20 in the first half. The Crusaders held a slight lead over the Gators, 39-35, at the buzzer to end the half.
College of Notre Dame and Christendom College were only separated by two points in the second half. The Gators scored 20 points while the Crusaders dropped 22 points. Scott led Notre Dame in the second half with eight points and picked up four of her six steals on the evening. The Gators made a late push to overtake the Crusaders, but would come up six points shy.
College of Notre Dame returns to the court on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Marywood University for Colonial States Athletic Conference action at 2p.m.
