Box Score
Aston, PA - College of Notre Dame of Maryland basketball falls to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Neumann University Thursday evening 92-45.
Senior India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) led all players with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals. Guard Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) contributed 13 points for the Gators. Katie Murphy (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) hit a three-pointer for her only points on the evening.
The Knights offense came out strong; taking an early 6-0 advantage, but Bye put Notre Dame on the scoreboard with a lay-up a minute and twenty seconds into the half. The sophomore would again snap Neumann's offensive run with a three-pointer with fifteen minutes of play remaining in the opening half.
Scott scored her first points of the evening on her first trip to the foul line. She hit an open lay-up on Notre Dame’s next trip up the court. From that point forward the forward would be the Gators strongest offensive threat. Scott and Bye combined to score all nineteen of Notre Dame’s first half points.
The opening eight minutes of the second half saw the Gators shooting well and playing strong defensively. During this period Notre Dame’s defense kept Neumann from extending their halftime point margin.
In the final ten minutes of regulation the Gators continued to press offensively, earning their points with strong post play. Time would expire before Notre Dame could pull within reach of Neumann.
College of Notre Dame returns to the court on Saturday afternoon when they host CSAC opponent Cedar Crest College. Tip-off is set for 2:00p.m.
