Gators Fall on Alumnae Day

Box Score Baltimore, Md. -- The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Centenary College Saturday on Alumnae Day.  Notre Dame recognized Coach Tim Engle, a 2014 Hall of Fame Inductee, at halftime.  Coach Engle holds the longest tenure of basketball coaches, while his 110 wins is the most in Notre Dame basketball history while his overall win percentage posts second best.

A slow start by the Gators proved too much overcome as the Gators fell to the Cyclones in their conference match up.  Centenary jumped out to an early first half lead and continued their pressure to a 71-36 victory.

The Gators were paced by freshman Shelby Cochran (Wilmington, Del. /Hodgson Vo-Tech) who was 3-4 from beyond the arc, with 11 total points and three rebounds.  Freshman Allyson Whitacre (Jarrettsville, Md. /North Harford) recorded a team game high nine rebounds while adding eight points and three assists.  Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif. /El Camino) also posted eight rebounds.

Notre Dame will wrap up their three game home series Monday, January 19 against University of Valley Forge.  Tip-of is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
