BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland Women's Basketball team begins its run toward an United East Conference title on Wednesday, as the seventh-seed Gators host tenth-seed Wilson at 5 p.m. in first round.
The two schools meet for a spot in the quarterfinal, set for Saturday at PSU-Abington.
The Gators, who won the 2022-23 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title in the conference's last year in existence, advanced to the UE Semifinals last season before falling to Saint Elizabeth. This is the sixth straight year the Gators have advanced to the postseason.
Finishing 13-12 this year, with an 11-5 mark in the UE, Notre Dame of Maryland is led by
Amya Durham who is averaging 12.8 points per game, while
Amani Watts has averaged 16 points per game in 16 games this season.
The two teams met twice this season, with each team earning victories on their home floor. Wilson defeated the Gators in Chambersburg on November 26, 61-51, while the Gators leveled the series 66-57 on January 22 on Charles Street.
Wilson, located in Chambersburg, Pa., is led by Jewels Torres who averages nine points per game while Leah Laubach has averaged 9.8 points per game in 22 contests. The Phoenix went 10-15 this season with a 9-7 mark in league play.
