Swimming Earns Season Opener Victory

MEET RESULTS

Baltimore, Md. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University claimed a season opener victory over College of New Rochelle, 50-36.

Five swimmers notched first place finishes led by newcomers Darby King (Lawton, Okla.) and Mary Claire Waterman (Catonsville, Md.) with two apiece.  King opened up the individual races capturing a first place victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 16:53.41 and a time of 26.06 in the 40 freestyle.  Waterman recorded first place times with 2:35.97 in the 200 freestyle and 1:11.78 in the 100 freestyle.

In the 100 breaststroke, senior Emily Jordan (Bel Air, Md./ C. Milton Wright) clocked in at 1:13.25 for a first place victory while juniors Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.) and Julianna Randazzo (Glen Burnie, Md.) recorded first place wins in the 100 backstroke in 1:17.25 and 200 butterfly in 3:25.34, respectively.

In the 160 medley relay the team of Pedersen, Waterman, Jordan, and Randazzo took first place in a time of 1:48.16.

The Gators next travel to John Jay College Saturday, but will return home November 18th, for meet against local rival, Goucher College.


Notre Dame of Maryland University would like to invite you to join us in celebrating the storied history of the swimming program.  Following the team's final home meet on January 23, we will be hosting a celebration to honor head coach Curt Jordan, and the accomplishments of the swim program.
