Swimming Posts Several Season-best Times at Yellow Jacket Invite

MEET RESULTS

Richmond, Va.  --  The Notre Dame of Maryland University swim team took part in the Yellow Jacket Invitational and posted several season-best times.  

Senior Emily Jordan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) gave the Gators eight points in the meet, posting an 11th place finish in the 400 yard individual medley, finishing in 5:01.10.  She followed by clocking in at 2:24.64, giving her 15th place in the 200 yard butterfly   On Friday, Jordan finished the 200 yard individual medley in a season best time of 2:23.18.  

Friday's session saw three swimmers reduce their time in the 500 yard freestyle by atleast 10 seconds to highlight the day.  Junior Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.) finished with a time of 6:30.78 to improve by over ten seconds.  Sophomore Lindsey Webb (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) improved her time by 1:04 to clock in at 8:12.31.  Sophomore Molly Wolanski (Athens, Pa.) knocked off 34 seconds from her season best and finished in 8:44.28. 

The trio repeated the feat in Saturday's 200 yard freestyle, as Pedersen improved by three seconds to finish in 2:27.11.  Webb reduced her time by six seconds to clock in at 3:00.64, while Wolanski knocked off three seconds to touch the wall in 3:10.03.  

Freshman Summer Stevens (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) improved by 5 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle and touched the wall in 40.86 to conclude Friday's individual races.  Stevens followed it Saturday by taking off 12 seconds in her 100 yard backstroke and finished in a time of 1:39.87.    

In the 100 yard freestyle, Wolanski, Webb and Stevens continued their improvement.  Wolanski highlighted the race by swimming in 1:27.16, improving by eight seconds.  Stevens knocked off six seconds and finished in 1:34.36, and Webb bested her time by three seconds to finish in 1:20.76. 

Notre Dame will now enjoy over a month break from action as they won't return to competition until Thursday, January 21, by travelling to local rival Gallaudet University.
