Box Score ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University soccer team saw their 2016 campaign come to close this afternoon as they traveled to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Rosemont College. After two overtime periods, the game ended in a stalemate, with both the Gators and Ravens scoring one goal each.
The first goal of the game did not come until the second half when junior
Raeden McCullough put the ball in the back of the net in the 51
st minute of play. McCullough's goal came after she stole the ball from a defender, scoring from 10 yards out. After holding a 1-0 lead for 28 minutes of game play, the Ravens would even the score off a penalty kick in the 79
th minute. To close out regulation, neither the Gators nor the Ravens would register another shot on goal.
In the first overtime, the Gators would have the first opportunity to score off a corner kick in the first minute of play. A shot attempt by sophomore
Lindsey Rehak would sail wide right, the score still tied at one apiece. In the first overtime, Notre Dame recorded six shots while holding Rosemont to zero. Sophomore
Lilly Gordon recorded the last shot on goal in the first overtime in the 98
th minute, but the first overtime would come to a close with the score tied, 1-1.
In the second overtime, Gordon recorded another shot in the first 11 seconds, but the shot would sail high. Sophomore
Meghan Conner had two more shots in the second overtime and again the Gators would hold the Ravens to zero shots. The game would come to a close after 110 minutes of play, the score tied, 1-1. Notre Dame registered 15 shots against Rosemont, while freshman goalie
Loren Pardoe recorded five saves.
Notre Dame finishes the season 3-11-1 overall and 2-8-1 in conference play. Conner finished the season ranked number two for shots per game in the CSAC with 4.69 and scored a hat trick in the Gators' game against Clark's Summit. She was named CSAC Player of the Week in September, while seeing time in the NCAA top 25 for shots and shots on goal per game. This season, Gordon was named CSAC Defensive Player of the Week and finished fifth in CSAC save percentage while Pardoe finished eighth. Goalies Gordon and Pardoe registered 115 saves this season, 29 more than last season.
