Box Score Front Royal, Va. – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team traveled to Christendom College for a non-conference match up, Tuesday. The Gators would outscore the Crusaders in the final three frames to claim a 59-48 victory.
The Gators were led in scoring by sophomore
Justice Walrath who posted 17 points, one-point shy of her career-high. Walrath shot 50% from the floor with three three-pointers, while going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She also recorded three rebounds, two assists, and tied a team game-high two assists. Junior
Zaria Comer also posted double-figures in scoring for the Gators, finishing the night with 16. Comer tallied four blocks in the game, her eight career game with four or more blocks and third this season. On the boards, junior

Justine Mudiay had six rebounds apiece, with Guy adding eight points in the win. As a team, the Gators recorded 11 steals, 10 assists, and shot 75% from the free-throw line, and 40% from beyond the arc.
In the first quarter, Notre Dame would strike first, going up two off a jump shot by Comer. On the opposite end, the game would see its first lead change as the Crusaders would down a three-pointer, one of two made three-pointer for Christendom in the game. A three-pointer for the Gators less than a minute later by Walrath would see Notre Dame now up 5-3.
After the Crusaders tied the game at five apiece, Guy would record her first two points of the night to give the Gators a 7-5 lead. Christendom would use their last three-pointer of the game to regain the lead, Notre Dame now down one. A five point run by Walrath would put the Gators up four with four and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
The Crusaders would crawl back and take the lead with just over a minute remaining in the first, Notre Dame down, 16-17. The first quarter would come to a close with the Gators down three, 16-19.
Notre Dame would record their first points in the second quarter with six and half minute left in the first half, the Gators down three, 18-21. Just over a minute and a half later, the Gators would regain the lead of a layup by Guy.
With over a minute remaining in the half, the Gators would be down five, 24-29. A three-pointer by junior
Daishawna McNeil and a put-back by Guy in the closing seconds would see the score tied going into halftime, 29 apiece.
Going into the third quarter, Notre Dame would surge ahead, holding Christendom scoreless through the first four and half minutes, going on an 8-0 run. In the third quarter, the Crusaders would get within one of the Gators twice, but in the closing seconds, a jumper by junior
Shelby Cochran would put Notre Dame up three going into the fourth quarter, 43-40.
Notre Dame would keep the momentum going into the fourth quarter with Comer and Walrath combing for 11 of the Gators 16 fourth quarter points. With a strong defensive effort, led by Cochran, the Gators would hold the Crusaders to only eight points in the fourth quarter and secure their third victory of the season, 59-48.
Notre Dame will see some time off from competition and return to the court next Friday, December 16
th. The Gators will travel to Bryn Athyn for a non-conference match up.
