Zaria Comer posted her 1000
th career point and now is one of seven players in Notre Dame history to reach that milestone. At the start of the game, Comer needed 23 points to start the game to reach 1000 points. She hit that mark late in the fourth quarter for a season high. Posting her 1000
th point today moves Comer into seventh all-time scoring in Notre Dame record books with plenty of time in her senior season to move up the rankings.
Comer also posted her fourth double-double of the season, with 23 points and 17 boards, finishing just shy of her career-high rebounds. She also had four blocks in the game, adding to her Colonial States Athletic Conference leading blocks per game (2.0). Junior
Justice Walrath had her second-consecutive double-figure game, finishing with 10 points off two three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Freshman
Adrianna Fletcher tallied a career-high eight points and went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. Senior
Ashley Guy led the Gators in assists, finishing with five, tying a career-high. She also had nine rebounds in the win. As a team, Notre Dame finished with 55 rebounds, a season team high.
To open the first, the Gators jumped out to an 11-0 run over the Gophers. Goucher iced Notre Dame in the final four and a half minutes of the first, going on a 9-0 run to get within two to close out the quarter. In the second quarter of play, the Gators posted 20 points to give Notre Dame a 31-19 lead going into halftime. In the second half, Notre Dame held Goucher to single digits in both the third and fourth quarters, eventually taking their second victory of the weekend, 56-32.
Notre Dame will see a break for action during exam week next week. The team will compete their three-game home stand next Saturday against Hollins University.
