Box Score 2 IMMACULATA, Pa. – Notre Dame softball traveled to Immaculata University today for a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader. In their second game in two days, the Gators fought off the Mighty Mac, but would drop both, 8-0 and 6-0.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Gators posted three hits, one each from sophomore
Sammy Kastner and freshmen
Naudiya Hopkins and
Katie Cardinal. In the third inning, the Gators had an opportunity to score with Cardinal and Hopkins registering back-to-back hits. Immaculata would get out the next three batters to strand both in scoring position. In the fifth inning, Notre Dame had another chance to get on the board after Hopkins walked with two outs. Kaster hit her fourth double of the season to move Hopkins to third, but again the Mighty Macs would record the final out, this time to end the game. Notre Dame struggled to manufacture runs and would fall in the first game in five innings, 8-0.
In game two, Kastner led off with a single to center field. Kastner would advance to second on a ground out by senior
Margaret Pedersen. Freshman
Sydney Salgado would also post a single to the outfield to move Kastner to third, but Immaculata would get the next two batters for the third out to strand both runners in scoring position. After holding the Mighty Mac in the first two innings, Immaculata would go up by one in the fourth. Immaculata tacked on five more runs to close out the game in seven innings, Notre Dame dropping game two, 6-0. The Gators registered five hits in the game, one each from Kastner, Salgado, sophomore
Maddie King, senior
Morgan Ward, and Hopkins.
Notre Dame will now host Clarks Summit University, Saturday on Senior Day at Harford Community College. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
