Box Score LANGHORNE, Pa. – Notre Dame basketball face Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent, Cairn University on Wednesday night. In their second meeting of the season, the Highlanders defeated the Gators, 69-47.
Senior
Zaria Comer led the team in the game, getting her eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She went 7-for-13 from the floor, her 11
th game this season shooting 50% from the floor or better. Senior
Ashley Guy added nine points, going 3-for-5 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
Naimani Staley posted a season-high, nine rebounds while also leading the team with senior
Dania Taylor in assists with three apiece. Taylor also had three steals in the game, along with her eight points and five rebounds.
In the first quarter, Cairn jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, eventually outscoring Notre Dame, 22-8. But in the second quarter, the Gators went on several scoring runs, outscoring the Highlanders, 18-14. With less than a minute left in the first half, Notre Dame got back within six of Cairn, but in the second half, the Highlanders pulled away handing NDMU their ninth conference loss of the season.
Notre Dame will next come home to host Marywood University on Senior Day, Saturday. Come early to the game as the seniors
Shelby Cochran, Zaria Comer, Ashley Guy,
Daishawna McNeil, Naimani Staley, Dania Taylor, and
Lindsey Webb will be honored prior to the start of the game. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and senior recognition will start around 1:40 p.m.
