ROSEMONT, Pa. – In the first Colonial States Athletic Conference Weekly Honors of the New Year, the Notre Dame basketball team scored two recognitions for the second time this season.
In her second honor in her first season with the Gators, sophomore
Jaya Green was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Week. Green was previously named the Defensive Player of the Week for her play during the first week of December.
Green had a standout performance for the Gators in their last two games. Before the holiday break, Green helped the Gators securing a 59-52 victory over Penn State York. She recorded 10 rebounds and seven points. In the Notre Dame victory over CSAC opponent, Cairn University, Green scored her first-career double-double, posting a career-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. She went 8-for-13 from the floor and had two of the team's five blocks.
Senior
Justine Mudiay was named to the CSAC Weekly Honor Roll. This is her second weekly honor for her career, being named the CSAC Player of the Week at the end of November this season.
Mudiay was instrumental in the Gators' victory over PSU York, leading the team in scoring with 20 points. This is the fourth time in her career posting 20 or more points. Mudiay went 8-for-19 from the floor and 2-for-5 from the three-point line. She also led the team in assists tallying five of the team's 11. In Notre Dame's victory over Cairn on Saturday, Mudiay finished with eight points, going 4-for-4 from the line and posting four rebounds and two assists.
The Notre Dame basketball team now has four CSAC weekly honors so far this season with six weeks left of the regular season. The Gators are deep into their conference schedule, traveling to Keystone College tomorrow and then coming Thursday to host Wilson College. On Saturday, they will travel to Centenary University for more conference action.
