ROSEMONT, Pa. – This past week, Notre Dame basketball posted two Colonial States Athletic Conference victories to advance to 8-5 in conference play and are currently tied for second in the CSAC standings. Their 2-0 week helped the Gators earn two weekly honors, the fourth time this season two players were recognized in the same week.
Scoring her first weekly honor, freshman
Daija Fitchett was named the CSAC Player of the Week. Fitchett had two standout performances for Notre Dame. In the team's narrow 44-40 victory over Keystone on Wednesday, she finished with her second career double-double, notching 13 points and 14 rebounds (a career-high). he also had a career-high four blocks while the team finished with seven.
On Saturday, in Notre Dame's 69-50 victory, Fitchett scored a career-high 20 points, while also reeling in 10 rebounds. She now has three career double-doubles. Over her past two games she is averaging a double-double, with 16.5 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Also notching her first career CSAC weekly honor is sophomore
Keyeria Dawson, who was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Week. Against Keystone, Dawson notched five rebounds, four on the defensive end. She also posted two steals and tallied three assists.
At Cedar Crest on Saturday, Dawson had a career game. She scores a career-high 18 points with two three-pointers. She also had a career-high, eight rebounds, while leading the team with six steals.
The Gators have secured a spot in the CSAC Playoffs for the first time in program history with three games remaining. Final seeding for the playoffs will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season with two weeks left to play.
