Kastner and Bronushas Named to CSAC Honor Roll

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Notre Dame athletics had two softball players earn Colonial States Athletic Conference weekly honors this week, the third week in a row two or more student-athletes were honored in the same week.

Senior Samantha Kastner earned her second-career weekly recognition being named to the CSAC Honor Roll.  Despite the 1-2 week, Kastner was strong at the plate for the Gators and was instrumental in helping lead NDMU to a 7-6, extra innings victory over Cairn on Saturday.

Kastner led the team this week at the plate, notching a .556 batting average.  She recorded five hits, including three doubles and three RBIs.  She currently leads the CSAC in batting average and is second in slugging and on base percentage.  She is also second in the conference in total doubles, with seven so far this season. 

This is Kastner's second honor roll recognition this season. 

Sophomore pitcher Jodie Bronushas was also named to the CSAC Honor Roll, a second recognition in her rookie season.  Bronushas also had a great week at the plate, hitting .500.  She had four hits, including two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

From the circle, she was 1-1 and finished the week with seven strikeouts.  She is currently first in the CSAC in earned run and opposing team batting average. 

NDMU softball will face two opponents this week on the road.  On Wednesday, they will travel to Gallaudet University and then to Cedar Crest College on Saturday.
