ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced their 2019 selection for the softball End of the Year Awards today. The Gators had three players named to the Second Team All-CSAC.
Senior
Sammy Kastner in her final season, earned Second Team All-CSAC recognition, the highest honor of her career. Last season, she was named to the CSAC Honorable Mention team, a first for her career.
This season, Kastner was a versatile threat for the Gators both at the plate and catching the entire season. At the plate, Kastner hit for .434 with 31 RBI, which was good for fifth in the CSAC. She also hit for .663 in slugging and had a season high, 13 doubles, both which were good for fourth in the CSAC.
This season she crossed over the 100 hit mark, finishing her career with 110. She also reached NCAA ranking in doubles per game, ranking 16 at .5 doubles per game. She hit her first career homeruns this season, finishing her career with two.
Behind the plate, Kastner finished third in the conference in caught stealing with six and fifth in putouts. Kastner was also this seasons CSAC All-Sportsmanship recipient.
Also being named to the Second Team All-CSAC, sophomore
Jodie Bronushas was recognized as a utility player in her rookie season. Bronushas was dominate at the plate in her first season with the Gators. At the plate, she finished the season with a .493 batting average, which was good for second in the CSAC. She also was third in on base percentage and slugging percentage. With 28 this season, she finished ninth in RBI and fifth in triples with three.
From the circle pitching for the Gators, she racked up 105 strikeouts in her rookie season. Only one other pitcher in the CSAC notched more strikeouts this season.
The team's final honoree in the 2019 season, was junior
Isa Carunungan who earned her first Second Team All-CSAC recognition. In her previous three seasons, she was named to the CSAC Honorable Mention team.
At the plate, Carunungan finished third in the CSAC in batting average at .459. She also finished sixth in on base percentage (.515) and slugging percentage (.612). She scored 30 runs this season, surpassing her freshman season personal record of 20. Hitting, she will enter her senior season four hits shy of 100 hits, hitting 39 this season.
The Gators finished the season with 10 wins, a mark that has only been reached for the program once in its 10-year history.
