2019-2020 All-CSAC Basketball Honors Announced

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the 2019-2020 Basketball All-Conference honors today.  The number three seeded Gators had four players earn All-Conference recognition, including two major awards.
 
Sophomore, Daija Fitchett earned top honors for the first time in Notre Dame of Maryland history as well as first time in her career being named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year. Fitchett additionally earned the second-team All-CSAC recognition for the second year in a row. This is the highest conference recognition earned by the Basketball team to date. 
 
This past 2019-2020 season Fitchett led the season in blocked shots recording 46. Additionally, she was tied for conference leading in rebounds averaging 11.7 per game. She averaged 11.8 points per game and finished fourth overall in field goal percentage with 49.8 percent. She earned nine total weekly honors such as CSAC Player of the Week one time, as well as Defensive Player of the Week three total times and Honor Roll five total weeks. 
 
Freshman Ayana Brim also earned top honor recognition as CSAC Rookie of the Year for the first time in Gator history. Along with her top honor she was also selected to be in the first-team All-CSAC. Brim was recognized this past season five total times with a Player of the Week mention and Honor Roll four times. 
 
In her first season with the Notre Dame of Maryland Basketball team, she finished the regular season second in the conference in field goal percentage at 53.3 percent. Additionally, she averaged 14.8 points per game ranking her as eighth in the league overall. Brim lead the team in points this season with 371 total, her career high being against Clarks Summit recording 27 total points in the game. 


Freshman Ariana Alleyne also earned the second-team All-CSAC recognition. This is the first time that the Notre Dame Gator basketball team has had two second-team mentions in program history. Alleyne saw Honor Roll recognitions from the CSAC throughout the 2019-2020 season a total of three weeks. 
 
Alleyne finished the regular season top 10 in the conference in scoring averaging 14.6 points per game. In addition to this achievement, Alleyne ended number three in the league for assists recording 114 and averaging 4.6 per game. Her season high in points was recorded as 26 points against Cairn University. However, no one will ever forget her game winning point in the upset over number one seeded Keystone with three seconds left on the clock. Alleyne finished the season top three in the conference for steals tallying a total of 76 and averaging three per game.
 
In the final recognition by the CSAC, Freshman Jaylah Lewis earned the CSAC All-Sportsmanship honor. This past 2019-2020 season she had back-to-back weeks of recognition and being mentioned in the Honor Roll a total of three times. 
 
Lewis earns recognition from the CSAC for her scrappy defensive plays and for being a great teammate on the court. She recorded at least one steal per game finishing the regular season play with 77 total steals for the season. Being number two in the league for steals, she averaged 3.1 steals per game. She also was a strong offensive threat with a season high of 19 points. Her strongest game to date was against Cairn University where she posted 17 points and eight steals.
