BALTIMORE – 21 months since her last appearance on the court,
Daija Fitchett, the reigning CSAC Defender of the Year, was named to the conference Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league on Monday. Fitchett finds herself right where she ended the 2019-20 season. She made six appearances on the Weekly Honors list during her sophomore campaign and was awarded Defensive Player of the Week three times in addition to capturing the league's Player of the Week once.
Through two games this season the captain is already averaging a double-double with 12 points per game to go with 11.5 rebounds per. She received the honor for her presence in the paint in both of the Gators first two contests. With the 100 blocks milestone within her sights, Fitchett swatted away three shots against Washington College and replicated the defensive effort with three blocks at home against William Peace. She also led the Gators in scoring with 16 points and had a game-high of 14 boards.
