BALTIMORE – Two former volleyball standouts became the 51st and 52nd members of the Notre Dame of Maryland University Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday night, as Qiana Smith-Gabriel '06 and Kimberly Myers '09 were officially inducted at the 2022 Alumni Awards dinner as part of Alumnae and Alumni Weekend.
Smith-Gabriel was a member of the volleyball program from 2003 through 2005, while Myers played for the Gators from 2005 through 2008. Both held several program records at the time of their graduation, and both were members of a 2005 squad which won the most matches (28) in team history.
The Notre Dame of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame Award is presented to former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, or staff that demonstrated outstanding achievement in athletics at Notre Dame. The individual exemplified the Notre Dame Athletics mission of striving for success in both educational and athletic pursuits.

Qiana Smith-Gabriel '06
Smith-Gabriel currently ranks fifth at NDMU in career kills (935), first in career solo blocks (223), first in career block assists (161), first in total blocks (384), and ninth in aces (196). She also holds single season records in solo blocks (104), block assists (63) and total blocks (167) from the 2005 season, and her single-match high of 11 blocks, set on Sept. 4, 2005, is tied for first in team history.
Smith-Gabriel was an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference (AWCC) first team all-conference performer in both 2004 and 2005, and she served as team captain for a 2005 squad which finished the year with an overall record of 28-12. She was also a four-year letterwinner in basketball, and ranks fourth in team history with 47 career blocks. She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta during her time on campus, and she remains an active member today.
After graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in physics, Smith-Gabriel earned her civil engineering degree from Morgan State University. She has worked in the Civil Engineering Field for the past 12 years, specializing in Traffic Design and Operation.
Kimberly Myers '09
Myers is currently ranked second in career kills (1,150), third in career aces (249), in fourth in career digs (1354). She was NDMU's all-time leader in kills at the time of her graduation. Myers' career single-match high of 30 kills is tied for the program record. Her single-match career bests in blocks (10) and aces (15) are also ranked third and fourth, respectively, in team history.
Myers served as team captain in each of her final two years on campus. She was a second team All-CSAC honoree as a senior in 2008, and she was an AWCC honorable mention all-conference performer in 2005 and 2006. Myers was also a two-time CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team recipient (2007, 2008), and she received multiple CSAC Player of the Week and CSAC Honor Roll selections during her final two seasons.
Myers graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in English language and literature, and she would later add a master's in comparative literature from the University of Colorado Boulder.
