Fitchett Named CSAC Defensive Player of the Week

BALTIMORE- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) released its weekly awards on Monday, Jan. 9 with Notre Dame of Maryland University's Daija Fitchett being honored as the CSAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. 
 
Fitchett recorded two double-doubles in the Gators three wins averaging 16.7 points per game and 14.7 rebounds per game helping the Gators improve to 6-0 in CSAC Play. Fitchett shined in the team's win over Saint Elizabeth University, posting 24 points and 13 rebounds. She recorded her second double-double of the week in the win over the University of Valley Forge, finishing with 20 points and 16 rebounds. 
 
Fitchett continues to leave her mark on the program, moving into second place in career rebounds (957). She passes Catherine Vecchioni who totaled 941 rebounds for the Gators from 2003-2007. In addition, Fitchett moved into 10th in program history in points (974) passing Tinah Houck who played for NDMU from 1993-97.
 
This is the sixth time in her career that Fitchett has been named CSAC Player of the Week. She is also the two-time defending CSAC Defensive Player of the Year. 
 
The Gators will return home for a pivotal CSAC showdown with defending conference champions Clarks Summit University on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
