Cheri Johns Tabbed New Softball Coach

Baltimore, Md. --  Notre Dame of Maryland University has named Cheri Johns as the new Head Softball coach and office manager.  
Johns comes to Notre Dame after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern University.  At Eastern she aided in planning and preparation of practices and games while developing the team's preseason, offseason and postseason strength and conditioning workouts.  Johns also assisted with the recruiting of student-athletes and coordinated community outreach.  Serving as the primary pitching and infield coach, Johns oversaw a re-write of all pitching records 1553in Eastern school history.  

In addition to coaching with Eastern, Johns also served as the Dixon Athletic Center Supervisor for two years at Cabrini College.  In this role, she helped run the center, including enforcing rules and regulations in memberships, aquatics and fitness in a Division III athletics facility while she trained and oversee student workers.  Before this position, Johns worked as a Wellness Specialist at L&T Health and Fitness in Malvern, Pa. and Medifit Corporate Services Inc. in Wilmington, Del., where she instructed group exercises, developed personalized exercise programs and served as a personal trainer.  

A graduate of Cabrini College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, Johns was a four year member of the softball team for the Cavaliers and helped the team reach an ECAC postseason berth her senior season while starting all 44 games on the year.  Johns is currently pursuing a Masters in Multicultural Education from Eastern University.  

In addition to her softball duties, Johns will also serve the Notre Dame athletics department as the office manager.  In this role, she will work with the athletic director to prepare annual and track the department budget, manages the Swim Club and handle day-to-day, routine office administration and student workers.
