Errors Hurt Gators in Loss to Immaculata

BALTIMORE, MD - College of Notre Dame's hitting was not the problem Tuesday evening, it was a combined 25 errors that helped lead visiting Immaculata to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20) win at the MBK Complex in both teams Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) season opener. The Mighty Macs improved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in CSAC play with the win while the Gators fell to 2-5 and 0-1, respectively.

The Gators made four service errors in the opening ten points of the first set and couldn't catch up with the Mighty Macs, as the visitors cruised to a 25-20 set one win.

Notre Dame jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the second set, but Immaculata came right back and pushed the score to 14-14. From there the Mighty Macs went on an 8-2 run for the 25-21 second set win.

The Mighty Macs hit for an impressive .462 percentage in the third and final set en route to the three-game sweep over the Gators.

For the match, the Gators committed eight service errors, eight reception errors, five blocking errors and four ball handling errors. Notre Dame collectively hit for a .139 percentage compared to Immaculata's .257.

Notre Dame was led by junior outside hitter Catherine Subrizi's (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) 14 kills and five digs. Junior India Scott (Baltimore/Baltimore Poly) added seven kills while junior setter Christina Kudrna (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) handed out 25 assists.

Jayme Lenosky led the Mighty Macs with 11 kills while Kathleen Haefner added 24 assists.

Notre Dame will host a tri-match this Saturday against non-conference opponents Chestnut Hill at St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) starting at 11 a.m.
