Box Score Baltimore, Md. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University's volleyball team defeated Immaculata University 3-0 for their fourth straight Colonial States Athletic Conference sweep.
Sophomore
Ashley Pasker (Newark, N.J./University) would pace the squad's offense with 10 kills, while junior
Cassidy Keller (Sparks, Md./Perry Hall) and sophomore
Grace Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) both added nine. Sophomore
Jamie Reyes (Yorba Linda, Calif.) chipped in with 30 assists, while Park finished with a team-high three aces.
Defensively, junior
Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) posted 24 digs, with Park contributing 13 and
Peyton Smith (Valley Lee, Md./Great Mills) chipping in with 12. The Gators would control the net as they recorded 11 total blocks on the night, led by sophomore
Brooke Bowman's (Garden City, Calif.) six. Pasker, Reyes and sophomore
Ashley Guy (Leonardtown, Md.) all added three blocks to the effort, with Pasker and Guy both posting a solo attempt. Keller would finish with two blocks, including one solo.
In the first set, the teams would fight to a 5-5 tie before Notre Dame went on an 11-4 run to push out to a 16-9 lead. The Mighty Macs chipped away and pulled within 20-18, but the Gators would hold on for a 25-21 first set victory. The second set saw Notre Dame jump out to a 7-2 lead before Immaculata narrowed the lead to 9-7. At this point, the Gators would again go on a run, this time using a 9-2 run to push the lead out to 17-9 before cruising to a 25-18 victory.
The Mighty Macs seemed to take momentum to open the third set by taking a 3-0 lead, but Notre Dame would battle back and the teams continued to fight to 12-12 tie. With the score tied, Notre Dame scored three points to take a 15-12 advantage, which Immaculata soon narrowed to 16-15. This time the Gators would answer with five-straight points to take a 21-16 lead. The teams then traded points until Notre Dame captured the 25-20 third set, and match, victory.
With the win, the Gators improve to 11-7 on the year, 6-2 in the CSAC, and currently sit tied for third-place in the league standings. Notre Dame returns to action Wednesday as they will visit local foe Washington Adventist University looking to extend their winning streak to five-straight, and also eye a repeat of a 3-0 sweep over the Shock earlier this season.
