Gators Sweep Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Baltimore, Md.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University's volleyball team swept University of Valley Forge and Trinity Washington University to pick up two victories on Family Weekend.

The Gators defeated UVF 25-14, 26-24, and 25-20 then followed it by defeating TWU 25-13, 25-12 and 25-4.

Junior Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) highlighted the day by posting 14 aces in the nightcap, placing her fourth in school history for aces in a match.  With the team leading the third set 3-2, Antes would serve out the rest of the match, serving for 22 straight points.

Offensively, sophomore Ashley Pasker (Newark, N.J./University) led the way with 14 kills, all against Valley Forge.  Junior Cassidy Keller (Sparks, Md./Perry Hall) added 13 while sophomore Grace Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) chipped in with 10.  Sophomore Jamie Reyes (Yorba Linda, Calif.) notched 27 assists, with sophomore Stephanie Roche (Perry Hall, Md.) posting 21, including a career-high 17 against the Tigers.

Defensively,  Antes paced the squad with 47 total digs, 28 coming against UVF.  Park finished the day with 22 and freshman Peyton Smith (Valley Lee, Md./Great Mills) contributed 18.  Sophomore Brooke Bowman (Garden City. Mich.) posted three solo blocks to help protect the net.

Opening the day against the Patriots, Notre Dame cruised to a 25-14 first set victory.  In the second set, the Patriots jumped out to a 10-4 lead before Notre Dame responded by slowly narrowing the gap, eventually forcing a 13-13 tie.  The teams would battle back and forth throughout the remainder of the set and eventually saw a 24-24 tie, but a Pasker kill, and attack error by UVF, gave the Gators a second set win.

The third set witnessed a 10-4 Notre Dame advantage, and the Gators would control the rest of the set, never allowing the Patriots closer than three points to collect a 25-20 win and match victory.

Against the Tigers, Notre Dame took control early and cruised to their 24th straight win over Trinity Washington.

With the win, the Gators improve to 14-8 on the season and will return to Colonial States Athletic Conference play by hosting Cabrini College, the multi-time defending champion, on Wednesday before finishing the regular season at Cedar Crest College next Saturday.
