Hernandez Earns Third CSAC Defensive Player of the Week Award of 2022

BALTIMORE – The Colonial States Athletic Conference released its final weekly awards of the fall season on Monday, with Notre Dame of Maryland University's Paulina Hernandez honored as the CSAC's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for a third time in 2022.

Hernandez (El Paso, Texas/Perry Hall) is recognized for a fourth time overall in her collegiate career. She totaled 44 digs and 11 aces during a 2-1 week for the Gators, who clinched the No. 2 seed in this week's CSAC tournament. Hernandez matched a career high with seven aces in Saturday's sweep at Clarks Summit, and she combined to post 35 digs during midweek contests against Cedar Crest and Cheyney. A previous weekly award recipient on Sept. 6 and Sept. 19 this season, Hernandez enters the postseason leading the CSAC in total aces (67) and ranking second in digs per set (4.41).

Gabbi Taganas added CSAC Weekly Honor Roll accolades for the Gators. Taganas (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) led NDMU with 30 kills while hitting .250 or higher in all three matches. She has a team-high 155 kills for a Gator squad which has won 14 of its last 15 matches entering the postseason.

NDMU will host either No. 3 Cairn, No. 4 Keystone or No. 5 Rosemont in Thursday's CSAC semifinal, which begins at 7 p.m. inside MBK Sports Complex.
