Hall of Fame
Bonnie Bleu O’Shields ’01 was inducted into the 16th Hall of Fame Class in 2006, the first year she was eligible to be induced.
O'Shields made an immediate impact on the volleyball team when she stepped on the court as a freshman. She helped the volleyball win an Atlantic Women's College Conference (AWCC) Championship that year and again as a senior in 2000.
O'Shields left Notre Dame as the all-time leader in kills with 854. She also was the career leader in digs and is still ranked in the top 30 all-time in Division III in digs per game. O'Shields was also an All-AWCC First Team honoree all four years at Notre Dame, earning AWCC Most Outstanding Player honors as a senior.
Also a four-year lacrosse player for the Gators, O'Shields earned All-AWCC First Team honors as a freshman, junior and senior from her midfield position. During her sophomore year, she joined the swim team and developed into an All-AWCC performer her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
O'Shields won the Sister Patricia McLaughlin Award as the Outstanding Underclass Athlete as a junior in 2000 and then the Sister Bernice Feilinger Award as the Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2001.
She earned Academic Honor Roll mention from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as a junior and senior, and the AWCC’s Donna Ledwin Award in 2001 as the conference’s top student-athlete. O'Shields also earned the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award following her senior volleyball season.
Bonnie Bleu O’Shields won the senior awards from the philosophy and business departments and graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in those areas. She then earned her M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore 2004 and is currently the supervisor of broker accounting for Care First.
