A four-sport athlete, Cynthia Dryden Kelly graduated from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1961 who was inducted into the Notre Dame Hall of Fame in 1998.

Playing field hockey, basketball, swimming and tennis, she earned a degree in history. ,Upon graduation she would continue her education by earning her MBA from Boston University. ,She served as Director of Development at Regis College in Weston Mass. ,She was the first woman named to the Executive Committee of the Harvard Community Health Plan, the largest HMO in New England,,


She would also dive into the badminton community, serving as the USBA president from 1992 until 1995. ,Before serving as president, she would serve as vice-president and treasurer. ,She has also represented the USBA at U.S. Olympic Committee Board meetings and serves as badminton's representative on the USOC Board.,

Her longtime coaching career includes coaching at the United States top badminton camp for nine years and has also run her own elite junior development camp for four years. ,Her 1989 and 1990 teams ended up winning at the U.S. Olympic Festivals. ,She also is a certified national umpire.,

Her badminton playing career saw her ranked in the U.S. Top 10 for over 20 years and winning several national titles. ,A member of two Uber Cup teams, and the manager of the 1988 team, she would also capture the doubles title at the All England Open Championships a total of seven times. ,

Recently she has been named to the Board of the U.S. Olympic Foundation. ,
