Hall of Fame
Qiana Smith-Gabriel '06 was inducted into NDMU's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
Smith-Gabriel ranked fifth at NDMU in career kills (935), first in career solo blocks (223), first in career block assists (161), first in total blocks (384), and ninth in aces (196) at the time of her induction. She also holds single season records in solo blocks (104), block assists (63) and total blocks (167) from the 2005 season, and her single-match high of 11 blocks, set on Sept. 4, 2005, is tied for first in team history.
Smith-Gabriel was an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference (AWCC) first team all-conference performer in both 2004 and 2005, and she served as team captain for a 2005 squad which set a program record for wins after finishing the year with an overall record of 28-12. She was also a four-year letterwinner in basketball, and ranked fourth in team history with 47 career blocks at the time of her induction. She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta during her time on campus, and she remains an active member today.
After graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in physics, Smith-Gabriel earned her civil engineering degree from Morgan State University. She works in the Civil Engineering field, specializing in Traffic Design and Operation.
