Hall of Fame
Heather Sine, M.D., class of 1989, was inducted into the 12th Hall of Fame class in 2002.
Sine was a three-sport student-athlete who believed consistency and determination were keys to success. A four year member of the field hockey and tennis teams, and two-year member of the swim team, Sine learned to manage her time between athletics, student activities, and academics.
Sine was a field hockey and swim team captain and the leading scorer of the Chesapeake Women’s Athletic Conference champion field hockey team. She was also Notre Dame’s Most Outstanding Underclass Athlete and received the Most Outstanding Senior Award the following year. She was instrumental in maintaining tennis as a varsity sport at Notre Dame.
After graduating with a biology degree and a double minor in chemistry and classical studies, Sine attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she received her M.D. she completed her residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and is now a full-time partner in an Ob/Gyn practice. While she no longer competes in organized sports, she gets her workout by chasing her two young sons.
