Hall of Fame
Lou-Ann Jonske-Gubosh ’84 was inducted into the 15th Hall of Fame Class in 2005.
A field hockey and lacrosse player at Notre Dame, Jonske is one of the best lacrosse players in the College’s history. Jonske came onto the college lacrosse scene as a freshman in 1981 when she had one of the most prolific scoring seasons ever at Notre Dame.
She scored 66 goals and had 10 assists for 76 points. The 66 goals set a school record that would stand for 21 years when it was broken by Angela Ruocco, with 71 goals in 2002. At the time, her goals came not just against Hood and Frostburg, but against Georgetown, UMBC and Johns Hopkins.
Jonske earned Maryland Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association All-State Second Team honors as a junior and All-State First Team recognition as a senior. She was also named the lacrosse team’s MVP as a freshman and junior and was a team captain as a senior.
In addition to her participation in field hockey and lacrosse, Jonske was also an accomplished member of Notre Dame’s Marathon Flag Football Team. She was a two-time MVP of the squad that competed against women from other area colleges at the Inner Harbor Tournament. She was the Recreation Association President as a senior and a member of the psychology and Spanish honors societies, the National Catholic Honors Society and Delta Epsilon Sigma, the National Scholastic Honors Society.
Jonske graduated cum laude in 1984 with a degree in psychology and a pre-medicine minor. She attended graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State University in 1992 and is currently a Women’s Health P.A. in the Atlanta, Ga. area. She is married to Mike Gubosh, a Naval Academy graduate, and they are the parents of three children.
With the lack of lacrosse in the Atlanta area, Jonske-Gubosh has taken her sports knowledge and become coach of a women’s select traveling soccer team.
